About High Wycombe


High Wycombe is also known as Wycombe which is a large town located in Buckinghamshire, England. High Wycombe is 29 miles north-west of London Charing-cross. As of 2015, High Wycombe has a population of 124,475 making  it the second largest town in Buckinghamshire after Milton Keynes. The Urban area of High Wycombe, conurbation of which town is the most important part has a population of around 133,204.

In Wycombe District, High Wycombe is the unparished area. Civil Parish of Chepping Wycombe comprises urban area. It had a population of 14,455 according to 2001 census. This parish also represents older part of Chepping Wycombe located outside the borough of Wycombe. Wycombe is a combination of market and industrial town and also produce furniture. In High Street, there has been market held since the middle ages.

Education

Buckinghamshire has a particular education system based on the previous tripartite system. People in last year at primary school are known as an 11+ exam. A score of people in this exam shows whether they are accepted into grammar school or secondary modern school.
